About the Course

Moving into a leadership role for the first time can be an exciting yet daunting adventure. This new role requires a different set of skills to lead a team to achieve their objectives and goals. This full-day workshop will start you on the road to being an effective leader.


This workshop will focus on recognising the value of working as a team and the techniques you can use to be a cohesive team. You will learn the foundations team development, roles within a team, understanding team dynamics, communication skills, and the importance of building trust within a team.


As the workplace continues to change, understanding your team and their strengths will be your competitive advantage.

Introduction and Welcome

The workshop will begin with a welcome and introduction from your facilitator. They will take a few minutes to outline the session, ensuring everyone has a clear understanding of what to expect.

First Time Leaders

During the program, the team will learn the key theories behind building a strong team assisting them to develop the foundational skills to successfully transition into a leadership role. They will discuss different leadership styles, learn how teams develop and build their communication skills to give constructive feedback.

Individual and Group Activities

During the session, each person will engage in individual and group activities to translate the theories into practical application. This includes self-reflection, role play, discussion and debate.  Learning from each others’ experiences provides the team with valuable opportunities to share their knowledge and grow together. All necessary materials for the exercises will be provided.

Wrap Up and Key Learnings

At the end of the program, your facilitator will provide a recap of the key takeaways. You will have time to ask your questions and develop a Personal Action Plan to implement the learnings.
