About the Activity

Library Bag Challenge for Teams

Did you know that many schools have a No Bag No Book policy?

One charity in WA needs over 10,000 library bags to gift to primary school-aged children so they can borrow a library book. We want to make sure every WA student has the opportunity to take a book home.

TeamLINQ have challenged ourselves to make and donate 10,000 library bags by the end of July 2026. We need your help to do this.

This challenge will have you working in teams to make as many high-quality library bags that you can in two hours. Through a facilitated activity, you will need to work together to allocate roles, plan out the tasks and quality check the bags.

Once completed, we will donate them to Dandelions WA to deliver to schools across all of WA.

This team building activity is ideal for small to medium sized groups looking to make a tangible contribution to the education of WA students.

Outcomes

  • Teamwork: groups work together to plan and make the bags

  • Collaboration: each person contributes to each bag with specific roles that may be rotated

  • Community Give Back: making a difference in the education of WA students

  • Connection: to the challenges that many students in WA experience

  • Digital Detox: the opportunity to work with your hands to make a tangible product

Introduction and Welcome

The activity will begin with the facilitator welcoming you, providing an overview of the activity and showcasing a sample of what you will be making.

Library Bag Challenge

The facilitator will provide each group with all the supplies that are required to make multiple library bags. This will include the fabric, equipment and comprehensive written instructions to guide you in making the bags. If required, we will provide you with instructions on using a sewing machine.

Making the Bags

The facilitator will be on hand to answer any questions and assist you with any troubleshooting required.

Wrap Up and Delivery

We will wrap up the activity with tallying the number of bags you have made and getting a group photo. There will be a brief sum up of the delivery of the bags and discussion on anything the participants learnt about themselves or their colleagues.
